# Building the Future: A Successful Wrap-Up of the 2024 AAC Conference June 5, 2024 1 Min read Last Friday, May 31, the Star Event Centre in Pyrmont buzzed with excitement as over 700 attendees gathered, both in person and online, for the [2024 Australian Association of Certifiers (AAC) Annual Conference](https://membership.aacertifiers.com.au/eventdetails/23605/aac-annual-conference), aptly titled "Building the Future." The event was a resounding success, showcasing the association's growing strength and influence across the industry. A key focus of the conference was the exploration of new technologies in the field of building surveying. Among the various sessions, "The Future of AI is Human" discussed the potential applications of AI for building surveyors. During the session, discussions delved into seamlessly incorporating AI into business strategies to boost human creativity and innovation, fostering a future-ready workforce by enhancing human-centric skills through upskilling and reskilling and embracing leadership approaches that emphasise human values and ethics in the era of automation. While the possibilities of AI were noted, it was clear that further thought and consideration are necessary to determine how best to integrate AI into the profession effectively. Visual Approvals (VA), a proud sponsor of the event, spent a significant amount of time engaging with attendees who were specifically inquiring about their integration with the NSW Planning Portal. The team was busy addressing questions and providing insights into the scope and functionality of this integration. These discussions highlighted the community's strong interest in using advanced tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency. Overall, the 2024 AAC Annual Conference not only provided a platform for learning and networking but also sparked meaningful conversations about the future of building surveying. The event's success is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the AAC committee. As the conference continues to grow each year, it remains a pivotal event for industry professionals, driving innovation and fostering collaboration.
