7 Steps to simplify your upgrade!

Our team strives to deliver unparalleled advantages with every new release.  A software upgrade can include new features, functional usability enhancements, and fixes. We release minor updates on a regular basis and are rolled out through the cloud. However, a major upgrade release takes a little more planning.

Why should you upgrade?

No software vendor will continue to support old versions of their application forever.  Although we are reasonably flexible in supporting previous versions we recommend that you run a major upgrade at least once a year. The longer you leave it to upgrade the harder it becomes to move forward.  By skipping versions, the upgrade process can take much longer & be more complex. This has the potential to create a greater impact on your staff as they adjust to more features and changes, which can cause unnecessary disruption to your business.

The 7 Steps

To simplify the upgrade planning process we recommend you follow these 7 easy steps:

  1. Contact your VA representative to discuss the scope of the upgrade and the enhancements as they apply to your business.
  2. Discuss the upgrade with your IT Manager or IT Contractor.  You may need to get them involved in the process.
  3. Confirm a suitable date & time to perform the upgrade.
  4. Request the pre-installer from VA to run on the desktop.
  5. Backup your database (preferably at COB the day prior to the scheduled upgrade).
  6. Updates are installed with a user's first log on to Visual Approvals.
  7. Proceed with any scheduled upgrade training. (Upgrade training can be arranged upon request).
