NCC 2022 comes into effect on May 1, 2023

August 23, 2023 1 Min read

The Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) has announced that the updated National Construction Code (NCC) 2022 will come into full effect on May 1, 2023.

This code brings key changes to Volume One and Volume Two in terms of a new volume structure and clause referencing system, among other areas. With this in mind, Building Certifiers and Surveyors should strive to prepare and learn the changes made to the NCC as soon as possible. They will then be well-versed when the new livable housing requirements commence.

ABCB aims to provide a more user-friendly online NCC that is more accessible to practitioners. To simplify the transition process, NCC has developed a helpful lexicon highlighting differences between the BCA 2022 references and the BCA 2019 references.

This will make it easier for users to understand how the changes will affect their work and help them get used to the new structure quickly. Along with the new references, the old clause numbers are also written down so that users can easily find them anytime.

In addition, ABCB is running a series of free webinars in March, from the 20th to the 24th, providing invaluable insight into compliance that is essential for all certifiers. Those attending can expect to gain knowledge directly from experienced NatHERS speakers as well as gain an understanding of what is going to be required when NCC 2022 is adopted.

ABCB will hold all the webinars online; thus, everyone has an equal opportunity to benefit from this unique learning experience and start up-skilling immediately! Therefore, if you are a Building Certifier or Building Surveyor, now is the time to get up-to-date on all these changes before May 2023. Don't miss out. Sign up now for your chance to get ahead!
