#C19AAC: The Challenges, Risks and Rewards

The 2019 AAC Conference #C19AAC took place on Friday 7th June at The Star Event Centre, and Visual Approvals attended as a Conference Sponsor. The event theme ‘Rising to the Challenge’ was particularly relevant considering the current climate of the industry.

Many of the day’s presentations related to these challenges including cladding, PI insurance and managing risk. Andrew Locke, a high-altitude mountaineer  shared his knowledge and experience about climbing all 14 of the world’s 8000 metre mountains. With each expedition he calculates the risk and reward, concluding that ‘it is worth it’. Andrew attributes his success to three factors; Risk, Resilience and Respect, all of which can be applied in both a business or sporting sense. His advice and takeaway from this session; ‘manage the risk down to a point to where it is acceptable’.

The conference was well subscribed with over 440 delegates from all states of Australia. With 20 plus conference sponsors, there was something for everyone from the trade exhibitors.

Each year the conference goes from strength to strength and it’s great to see so many interstate delegates attending. As always Jill, Shelley and the AAC team do a fantastic job in delivering the conference and we congratulate them on their success.
